Welcome

Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year
School hours are 7:00am to 6:00pm
The school year began Monday, August 9th

call 951-677-0207

We currently have one kindergarten opening and a few pre-K/TK openings call the office to schedule a tour, if you are interested, tours are offered Tuesday and Thursday from nine until 11:45. Walk ins will be accommodated, but may have some wait time.

What your child will need to bring to school:
Full day: A fitted crib size sheet and blanket with your child’s name on all items.
Several changes of clothes in a ziplock bag or backpack with your child’s name on it.
Half day: A change of clothes in a ziplock bag with your child’s name on it to keep in their cubbie.
When dropping off your child in their classroom you will sign them in,
and then we share this Goodbye Poem.

The longer you stay, I won’t be as eager to play.

A quick good-bye helps me to know, you think I can do it all on my own.

If you just let me go to my loving teachers, they will take good care of me

— please be patient and you will see.

“Celebrating 32 years of love, laughter, and happiness!”

Mission

Our philosophy at Murrieta Ranch Pre-school and Kindergarten is to provide your child with a safe, warm, and developmentally appropriate environment…an environment that will heighten the child’s natural curiosity and wonder of the world. We are here to enhance the social, physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of your “little one.” A large variety of hands-on learning experiences will help your child develop a positive attitude about school now and for the future.

The child, from birth to 5, learns at a more rapid rate than at any other time in life. Since self-esteem is developed and will be a major influence throughout a child’s life, our mission is to provide your child with the opportunity to achieve and be successful, with respect for individuality.

Our Goals

  1. To promote the development of healthy self-esteem from the inside out
  2. To promote self-discipline
  3. To create parent-teacher partnerships
  4. To identify the value of making “good choices”
  5. To promote social skills and the value of friendships
  6. To facilitate the ability to enjoy being a cooperative member of a group
  7. To develop respect for property and living things

With healthy self-esteem, a child can be successful and accomplish anything!

Welcome to Kindergarten!

Welcome to the Kindergarten program at Murrieta Ranch Pre-School. Our full day Kindergarten classroom offers hands-on learning experiences for your child along with an academic curriculum that meets both the California State and the local district requirements. Our low student to teacher ratio in the classroom allows for formal desk-time instruction, as well as center rotations. This enables the teachers to easily assess each child’s learning style and progress in order to provide extra attention where needed.

Report Cards

Report cards are issued every trimester. We will hold parent/teacher conferences the first trimester only. If you ever have any questions or concerns, conferences are scheduled at parent request. You can request a conference after your child’s second and third report card is issued as well.

Curriculum

Murrieta Ranch teaches curriculum that is California State Standardized curriculum. We have slowly transitioned over to State Standard Based, Common Core Curriculum with the thought that your child will transfer easily within our local districts, charter and private schools.

Reading and Phonics Program

Zoo Phonics

Zoo Phonics is a tangible, hands-on program that is fun for the children to learn. Each letter has an animal, name, hand signal, and a letter sound associated with it, allowing for quick memorization.

McGraw-Hill Reading Wonders, California 2016

Reading Wonders is designed specifically for the CC State Standards for Reading/Language Arts. It combines research-based instruction with new tools to meet today’s challenges, and every component and every lesson is designed for effective CCSS instruction. (Integration of concepts is curriculum wide). Phonemic Awareness concepts blend well with the Zoo Phonics instructional program.

Math

GO Math / hmhco.com

We changed over to GO Math in 2014 and our teachers felt it was a very successful. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt publishes this math system. It covers all of the Common Core State Standards for Kindergarten and we have ordered many hands-on games, center activities and circle and rug activities to apply each day.

*There are many directions and steps that apply to Common Core so if ever you have any problems or questions, please make sure you ask for help.

Center Rotations

Center Rotations will start several weeks into the year and will be held every morning. Center rotations include may math, pre-writing/writing, science, pre-reading/reading, art, free choice, puzzles, etc.

Handwriting

We teach Zaner-Bloser for our handwriting curriculum. It is a true “ball and stick” style of printing. It is comprehensive and effective and modern… and complies with Common Core. Take a look at Zaner-Bloser.com.

Homework

Your child’s homework envelope will contain family friendly assignments. These assignments are a review of the curriculum that we have covered in the classroom. However, if you ever find that your child does not understand the assignment, please return it to us for help. Homework should take approximately 15 to 20 minutes per day (not including reading and High Frequency Word work).

High Frequency Words / Sight Words

HF words are the most common words used in reading and writing. Children are expected to learn these words within a 3 second flash to help aid them in reading fluency.
